Sheila Ellis-Glasper graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. As a journalist, she earned national acclaim through her work featured in USA Today, Chicago Tribune, ESPN, and CNN. In 2016, she founded SEG Media Collective LLC, providing global branding and social media consulting. Her work has won numerous awards for diverse clients, including Fortune 500 companies. As founder of the Black Entrepreneurs of the Flint Hills, she advocates for equitable entrepreneurship and received the 2021 Minority Business Advocate of the Year award.

Power Cat Financial: Financial Literacy

Join Powercat Financial as our own K-State students present on Financial Well-Being! These young women take on the role of peer-to-peer financial counselors at Powercat Financial and have a passion for educating others. In this session we will dive into financial values, emphasize the benefits of a spending plan, and demystify credit and credit cards. These skills will empower you to succeed and flourish in your college years, while minimizing your financial stress!

Overall, this skill-building session will help the next generation of young women in business explore their broader life goals, values, and post-high-school endeavors.
Beauty Beyond the Mirror

In this interactive session, participants will not only explore professional makeup techniques but also get hands-on experience with lash application for a polished, professional look. We’ll dive into career opportunities in the beauty industry, from makeup artistry to beauty education, and discuss educational pathways like Bellus Academy. Aspiring entrepreneurs will also gain insights into launching a beauty business, with additional resources from Entrepreneurs of Flint Hills.

Charlene Lake is a mass communication graduate of Kansas State University. She began her professional life as a journalist, working on daily newspapers in Kansas. She started her career at Southwestern Bell Telephone in Topeka, and served in management roles in Financial Communications, Media Relations and Employee Communications in Kansas, Missouri and Texas. In 2007, she designed and launched AT&T’s centralized Corporate Responsibility function which she still leads today.
