The College of Business Women in Business Initiative will host its fourth annual Women in Business Career Summit on Monday, October 28 at the K-State Student Union and the College of Business.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Career Summit is hosted by the Center for Principled Business at Kansas State University, for current high school students, college students, and business professionals. The Summit provides an opportunity for personal and professional development for current college students as they prepare to move into the workforce and connects successful alumni with high school and college women to offer mentoring, networking, and learning opportunities.
HOST A WORKSHOP!
We are seeking engaging and interactive workshops designed for high school students exploring their strengths, interests, and possible career paths. Submit your workshop proposal by October 6 via this LINK.
SPEAKERS
Morning Keynote Speaker - Sheila Ellis-Glasper ('10), Founder, CEO and Marketing Strategist at SEG Media Collective LLC
Sheila Ellis-Glasper graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. As a journalist, she earned national acclaim through her work featured in USA Today, Chicago Tribune, ESPN, and CNN. In 2016, she founded SEG Media Collective LLC, providing global branding and social media consulting. Her work has won numerous awards for diverse clients, including Fortune 500 companies. As founder of the Black Entrepreneurs of the Flint Hills, she advocates for Black-owned businesses and received the 2021 Minority Business Advocate of the Year award.

Luncheon Keynote Speaker - Charlene Lake ('83), Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President, Corporate Responsibility at AT&T
Charlene Lake is a mass communication graduate of Kansas State University. She began her professional life as a journalist, working on daily newspapers in Kansas. She started her career at Southwestern Bell Telephone in Topeka, and served in management roles in Financial Communications, Media Relations and Employee Communications in Kansas, Missouri and Texas. In 2007, she designed and launched AT&T’s centralized Corporate Responsibility function which she still leads today.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Thanks to the generous support from K-State alumni and friends, the Kansas State College of Business will be awarding several scholarships at the Women in Business Career Summit. Scholarships can be used for students to apply toward any class offered through the K-State College of Business. College students and high school seniors are encouraged to apply. The application must be complete by October 25, 2024. Apply here.
NOMINATE AN INSPIRING INDIVIDUAL FOR THE
KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY WOMEN IN BUSINESS IMPACT AWARD
This award honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to advancing women in business, leadership, and their communities. We invite nominations of individuals who demonstrate a commitment to mentoring, advocating for, and uplifting women in leadership roles at K-State and beyond.
