PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Two-day conference presented by the Department of Accounting at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS for accounting professionals providing 16 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) to help professionals remain up-to-date on current accounting (audit, financial reporting, and tax) and technology (data analytics, cybersecurity, blockchain, etc.) topics.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Obtain up-to-date information and training related to recent changes in accounting standards and regulations for auditing, financial reporting, and tax Including:
- Gaining an understanding of recent tax law changes to companies related to the Paycheck Protection Plan, the CARES Act, and the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017 and applying the changes to your company or clients.
- Identifying and incorporating basic steps to transforming your current accounting position into an advisory role.
- Practically applying the Wayfair Inc. ruling regarding sales tax.
- Determining ways to measure and evaluate company performance and applying them to your company to create a comprehensive business evaluation dashboard.
Learn what and how technologies are disrupting the accounting industry (data analytics, blockchain, cyber security, etc.) including:
- Identifying the four different types of data analytics.
- Practicing your ability to exercise professional skepticism and obtaining a better understanding of the importance of identifying red flags in an audit setting.
- Gaining an understanding of how to apply robotic process automation (RPA) to your business and identifying the steps to transition from RPA to robotic and intelligent automation (R&IA) with more advanced cognitive technologies.
- Understanding the basics of business valuation using the residual earnings model and applying it to a real-world setting.

CPE Credits – Participants can earn up to 16 hours of CPE
Kansas State University Department of Accounting is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
