Where Business Meets Technology
The Management Information Systems major prepares students to bridge the gap between business and technology. Through a blend of technical training and business-focused problem solving, students learn how to design, develop, and manage digital solutions that help organizations operate more effectively.
K-State’s MIS program offers two tracks to help students tailor their education to their career goals: the Information Systems Track and the Data Analytics Track. The Information Systems Track focuses on developing and managing business applications, systems, and technology solutions. The Data Analytics Track emphasizes using data, analytical tools, and technology to support decision-making and uncover business insights. Students may also pursue a Data Analytics Certificate, which provides additional preparation in using data to analyze problems, identify opportunities, and support business decisions.
With a strong foundation in both business and technology, MIS students are equipped to help organizations improve processes, make data-informed decisions, and build solutions for a rapidly changing digital world.

Students in the MIS program complete a capstone project focused on information systems development or on business analytics/AI. This project is part of the Senior MIS Project course (MIS 677).
