About me: "K-State has always been my dream school. When I got accepted I was thrilled. The level of excitement went up again when I got into the Menard Family Scholars Program. Through the program, I have formed many new friendships, gotten to explore corporate business, and be one step ahead in the business world. Opportunities that this program has provided me have helped me strengthen life skills and apply them.

At K-State I am involved in Women in Business, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO’s), and the swing and line dance club. All of these organizations have provided me with many networking and community opportunities. I hope to run my own small leather business after college and apply everything I’ve learned from all of the wonderful programs and organizations here at K-State."

About Me: "I largely contribute the opportunities that I have been granted as a freshman at the college of business to the Menard Family Scholars Program. The unique resources that the program has to offer such as trips, guest speakers, and mentorships have been extremely helpful to me as a student with the ambition of obtaining a career in high finance. It exposed me to the Finance Scholars Program, which I recently joined as an intern. Above all else, the people that I have met in my cohort are truly some of my best friends here at K-State."

About Me: "I was born into a Kansas State family so naturally I have always grown up as a fan of the school. When I first visited campus, I immediately felt at home among the students and faculty that I met. My love for math and building relationships with others led me to choosing to pursue a degree in finance. I plan to go to graduate school to earn a master's degree in business with the goal of becoming a personal financial advisor. I love playing basketball, baseball, and golf, and I play the piano and guitar.

The Menard Family Scholars Program is incredible, and I am more than blessed to be a part of it. The opportunities that we have as a group are enriching and have further developed my passion for business and my education. The community that is built within the cohort is very tight, and participating in the classes with your peers and friends makes the learning even more enjoyable."

I have learned so much from all three of these organizations in such a short time. Being a Menard Scholar has taught me professionalism and networking skills that I will translate into my professional career. Volleyball has taught me how to be a stronger leader and to be better at communicating. Lastly, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization has taught me how to have a growth mindset, not only will these skills be beneficial to my academic career, but also my professional career as well."

About Me: "Being part of the Menard Family Scholars program offers a unique opportunity for personal and academic growth. It is an amazing program that instantly connected me to a group of hardworking, encouraging, and high-achieving peers and mentors. They are not only my cohort, but my friends. Having multiple classes together is so fun and allows us to create better friendships. I first became interested in this program because it offers valuable networking opportunities with industry professionals, helping students build connections that can open doors to internships and future career prospects. The company visits during our trips and the guest speakers are an additional bonus. I chose K-State because of its culture and home-like feel. Everyone is extremely welcoming and always willing to help. I am also involved in Women In Business, another great program that allows women to feel empowered and valued in the business field. I will forever be grateful for this experience and the opportunities the Menard program has presented me."

About Me: "I chose to attend Kansas State University mostly because my entire family has attended KSU. I’ve always loved visiting campus and attending athletic events when my siblings were here. Kansas State University affords me the opportunity to live close to home, yet allowing me to live independently and prepare for my future. The Menard Family Scholar Program has enabled me to meet a group of people with shared interests in the field of business. Through our classes and trips, I’m able to form networking connections that will allow me to hopefully secure employment within the business sector. One of the biggest influences are the trips we can take and the speakers who share their life experiences about how the little things in life can help you gain success and help others along the way. One particular event that sparked my interest in business was participating in the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge sponsored by K-State while I was in high school. Developing a business plan and marketing strategy all while presenting my ideas was a rewarding challenge. In addition to being involved in the Menard Family Scholar Program, I also am involved in Theta XI fraternity. This has taught me valuable life lessons such as how to get along with others while respecting differences. It likewise has taught me how to advocate for myself and to stand up for my beliefs. Through these organizations, I have learned that giving of self is more important than receiving."

About Me: "When considering my next four years at college, I had two primary questions: First, will I be connected and develop good friendships? Second, will my time help prepare me for my future? Kansas State University answered both of these questions. Menard Family Scholars has provided me with a great community that is encouraging each other to grow. It has also challenged me professionally through the trips that I have gone on and guest speakers that we are fortunate to hear from.

Along with Menard Family Scholars, I am a part of Finance Scholars, Student Finance Association, Ratio Christi, and Alpha Gamma Delta. Post graduation, I am interested in a career in management consulting. In my free time, you can find me making myself a cup of coffee, hiking, volunteering at my church, and taking care of my plants. Menard Family Scholars has been able to connect me with business across the country that otherwise I would never have met. About Me: "Coming from out of state, I chose K-State because of the instant “at home” feel. However, the Menard Family Scholars Program sold me on the school. Within the College of Business, I am also a part of Women in Business, the Honors College, and Business Ambassadors. I believe this would not have been possible if the Menard Family Scholars Program hadn’t helped by building connections to other clubs and resources. Being a career-driven person, I have dreamt of my future for as long as I can remember. When I found the Menard Family Scholars Program, I knew it was the perfect place for me. It not only teaches you about the fundamentals of business but also gives you great connections. I enjoy going to companies and asking them about their success in the business world and networking with future mentors. From traveling to guest speakers, you are constantly learning new things. Outside of the academic achievements of this cohort, we are also able to connect with one another in times of need. I have nothing but respect for all my peers and believe that these connections will last a lifetime. Possibly my favorite opportunity about this program has been hearing from a variety of different speakers. From hearing stories from the first dean of the School of Business to learning about ethics through the story of a felon, there is never a dull moment in class. I truly believe that the Menard Program will help me achieve my future goals of become a fashion buyer. I get the opportunity to network with a variety of different companies and build my resume. About Me: "The Menards Family Scholars Program has opened me up to so many new opportunities that I couldn’t get anywhere else. The trips are a very beneficial way to explore different companies and talk to many experienced professionals. I attended the Koch Industries tour in Wichita through the Menards program and got to talk to many of the employees one-on-one. Talking to them gave me great insight as to how the company runs and how they integrate their values into their business. Another great benefit of the Menards program is the networking opportunities. Through the program, I have met many students and leaders within the business building that have great stories and insights for both business and life in general. The program has been a great way to get to know people and different companies. I would recommend it to anyone with a drive to learn and gain experience working and talking with professionals.

Currently, I am involved in Quest, Menard Scholars, and Greek life. All of these organizations have helped me meet so many people and develop interpersonal skills required the the professional world. I chose to go into business because the skills you learn in the program apply to all areas of life. The personal skills I am developing, such as clear communication, determination, and networking, are just a few that will help me far beyond college or any job I get in the future."

About Me: "Coming to K-State was not a hard decision for me to make. The second I stepped on campus I felt at home. The Menards program was a cherry on top. I was overwhelmed by the welcoming energy within my cohort and have made some amazing friends that I can’t wait to grow with as future business leaders. Apart from the Menards Scholars, I am involved in Women in business, Kappa Delta sorority, and HandsOn K-State.

I had no clue what I wanted to do until my junior year of high school when I stepped into a position of leadership and found a love for it. I decided to pursue organizational business management because I feel like it will help me gain the skills and experience to manage my own non-profit one day. I am excited to see what is to come for my peers and I in the Menards program, school of business, and K-State."

About Me: "The Menard Family Scholars Program already has given me many opportunities to make new connections with friends and businesses.

I enjoy hanging out with our cohort on trips and outside of K-State life.

I chose K-state because I grew up around Manhattan and always went to K-State games when I was younger, and they truly make you feel like family.

I would like to own my own business one day and help serve Manhattan and other local communities.

I am in the MIS club, KSU Shotgun team, and the Kansas Air National Guard, from these I have become more resilient, disciplined, and hard working. It has taught me you get what you put in and to always have an open mind.

My interest in business started when I was able to run part of my dad’s painting business during apartment turns and saw how fun and rewarding it was running a business. I loved working with clients and completing projects.

In my free time I compete at Trap and Skeet events, go fishing with my buddies, and listen to music."

The welcoming atmosphere, strong academic programs, and endless opportunities for involvement really caught my attention and made me want to keep coming back for more. K-State’s College of Business, particularly the Menard Family Scholars Program, was a big draw for me, as it provides hands-on learning experiences and mentorship that prepare students to excel in business. Being able to attend Division I athletic events also makes the K-State experience truly unique, as the sense of community and school spirit are unforgettable.

My future career plans center around a career in Marketing, specifically in Digital Marketing. I’m also excited by the potential to start my own business someday, potentially living in the bustling city of Chicago. At K-State, I'm involved in Alpha Xi Delta sorority, Student Foundation, and Women in Business. My interest in business started early on, fueled by my time in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) in high school, where I first experienced the excitement of business competitions and leadership roles. About Me: "I chose K-State for many reasons, but mainly for the community I knew I would gain here. K-State has such a unique culture that I just didn't see at the other colleges I looked at. I'm so excited to now be a part of the community I liked so much. The Menard Family Scholars Program encourages and supports this unique K-State community while also providing a space for students to grow academically as well as professionally. I am excited to learn more about different businesses and companies and get a real feel for what I truly am looking for in a career. The Menard Family Scholars program helps with this through all the different speakers we get to hear from as well as the trips we get the opportunity to go on.

At K-State, I find community in Greek life through Farmhouse Fraternity, and through Student Mobilization or STUMO. Through both organizations I have made connections that are far beyond the surface level, and I can't wait to make more."

About Me: "One thing that I love about the Menard Family Scholars Program is that nearly everyone in my cohort shares a common desire, and that is wanting to go above and beyond when it comes to preparing for future career paths. For me, it is always special to see the intentional curiosity when we listen to different speakers. Anybody in the room with the Menard Family Scholars will see the sponge-like attitudes that the students carry when listening to others. Whether it be a guest speaker, or the head of a program within a large corporation, the students in my cohort truly have a desire to learn and apply it to their lives and it is very special to see.

After visiting K-State in the spring of 2024, choosing to come here was a no brainer as I was so impressed by the kinds of people that walk this campus. I truly couldn’t find a more friendly and outgoing university. When I made my decision, I knew I was wanting to go down the route of entrepreneurship considering my love for leadership and innovation. I have always loved big operations and collaborating with people!"

About Me: "The Menard Family Scholars Program has helped me develop myself personally and professionally through mentorship programs, networking events, and travel opportunities. One of my favorite parts of the program is the traveling component. This past year I was fortunate enough to travel to Houston with the program, which has been a highlight of my college experience thus far. I've also benefited from the programs and networking events provided to students by Menards, such as career fairs and opportunities to learn from university alumni. Outside of Menards, Kansas State is incredible and offers plenty of opportunities to grow and develop skills that will help in whatever career path its students enter. The sense of community and belonging resonates with every student here, which is one of the main reasons I decided to attend the university."
