The importance of study abroad programs
- Study abroad has found to enhance student cultural intelligence and global mindset, relevant traits in the contemporary global business environment.
- Study abroad also helps build self-confidence and a sense of independence, characteristics valued by employers.
Go during break or for a full semester
- The College of Business has created a variety of short, affordable study abroad programs (10-14 days) during semester breaks, spring break, thanksgiving break.
- Exchange programs available to a variety of destinations around the world where students can attend a foreign university for a semester (fall or spring) while paying K-State tuition.
- Direct enrollment programs where students attend a foreign university (during fall, spring, or summer) and pay tuition directly to the host University.
- Service Learning opportunities are available through Leadership Studies, typically during summer.
Where do we go?
- Recurring short programs during spring break, thanksgiving break, and summer take students to countries like Australia, United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, and Spain.
- Semester-long programs are available in a variety of countries in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
- Service Learning opportunities are available around the world, focused mostly on Latin and Central America, and Africa.

The College of Business provides a diverse group of faculty members with rich experiences across a variety of foreign countries who are dedicated to creating study abroad opportunities for students.
Dedicated alums provide generous scholarship funds to enable students to afford study abroad experiences.
Students interested in international aspects of business are encouraged to explore our International Business Certificate.
Faculty-led Trips
Australia (MAcc, PMBA students)
Gain valuable insights into international business and accounting through visits to organizations across a breath of industries from agriculture and tourism to global finance and accounting. Experience working with Australian business students on a cross-cultural business project and dive into the local culture including a tour of the Sydney Opera House, a cruise on the world famous Sydney Harbour, a visit to a crocodile farm, and a full day snorkeling excursion on the Great Barrier Reef!

Spain + Italy (undergrads, MBA students)
Learn about international marketing while exploring the rich cultures and experiencing the diverse cuisines of two prominent European countries. As one of the least expensive study abroad programs at K-State (total cost less than $4,000), this is a great way to spend your Thanksgiving break and get course credit! (3 hour international marketing course).
The trip starts in Barcelona, Spain. Spain is particularly known for its clothing and hospitality industries, so we will visit some businesses in these industries (e.g., Desigual clothing, Torres winery, etc.). We will also explore Spanish and Catalan cuisines by visiting some traditional tapas restaurants. Additionally, we will also explore the sights of Barcelona via a fun guided e-bike tour of the city.
The second part of the trip starts with a short hour-long flight from Barcelona to Rome, Italy. While in Rome, in addition to business visits, we will partake in several culinary experiences as Italy is world famous for its cuisine. This includes pizza making and also participating in a four course cooking class under the supervision of a professional Italian Chef on Thanksgiving day where we all enjoy our creations paired with the right wines! Best way to spend Thanksgiving! Additionally, we explore some of the world’s most iconic sights such as the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Vatican, and more.
Perfect for students majoring in any business area (marketing, management, accounting, or finance); agriculture; or agricultural economics, who have an interest in international business. This program is also a great fit for students getting the Certificate in International Business as it fulfills two requirements (international marketing course and the study abroad requirement for the certificate).

Thailand (PMBA students)
U.K. + Germany (undergrads, MBA students)
Learn about international business while exploring the rich cultures and experiencing the diverse cuisines of two prominent European countries. As one of the least expensive study abroad programs (total cost less than $4,000), this is a great way to spend your spring break and earn course credit! (3 hour international business course).
The trip starts in London, U.K. where we visit prominent international businesses such as Chelsea Football club and Oracle Health in addition to partaking in cultural and sightseeing activities. London features some of the world’s most iconic sites such as the Tower of London, Big Ben, The London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Wimbledon, and much more.
The second part of the trip starts with a short hour-long flight from London to Munich, Germany. Munich and its surrounding region is world famous for its automotive industry, with the big three German luxury brands (BMW, Mercedes, and Audi) headquartered in the region. We will visit the global headquarters of BMW Corporation. Students will learn about BMW’s global business, and also partake in a factory tour at the company’s flagship factory. Among other highlights, students will get to learn about Munich sights in a fun way as part of a guided bike tour! While in Munich, we also visit the Alps and enjoy some great food from the region.
This trip is perfect for students majoring in any business area (marketing, management, accounting, or finance) who have an interest in international business.
