Join us for a look at current programs offered by Kansas State’s Center for Principled Business that help high school students explore business careers, develop leadership skills, and imagine new possibilities after graduation. We’ll share highlights from the Women in Business Initiative, Menard Scholars, and the Summer Institute, and invite your input on how we can better partner with educators to reach and inspire students.

a) Leveraging Corporate Connections

Join the K-State College of Business Executive Director of Career Development and the Director of Corporate Engagement for an interactive discussion on leveraging corporate partnerships to enhance classroom learning and student organization experiences. Explore innovative ways to connect students with industry professionals, create meaningful experiential opportunities, and strengthen employer relationships. Participants will also engage with peers to share insights and best practices for bringing corporate connections to life across academic and co-curricular settings.

a) From High School to Hired: Exploring Career Pathways, Building Resumes & Making Meaningful Connections

Facilitated by Laura Rook (Room 4001)

Help your students take their first steps toward career success with practical tools and insights straight from the college classroom. In this session, we’ll explore how the PathwayU career assessment can guide students in identifying meaningful career paths, break down employer expectations for professional resumes, and share ways to introduce networking in a way that feels approachable for high school students. Attendees will leave with resources, strategies, and talking points to better prepare their students for the transition from high school to college - and ultimately, from college to career.

b) Acquiring, Developing, and Retaining Fans in Sports

Facilitated by Dr. Doug Walker (Room 4046)

This session will show how a focus on fan acquisition, development, and retention can be used to motivate compelling in-class activities for high school students across several key sports topics in specific and business in general.
