Emily Counter

Emily was born and raised in Junction City, Kansas. She earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in American Ethnic Studies from Kansas State University. During her senior year at Kansas State University, she had the opportunity to intern with her high school counselor while also earning a psychological technician certificate. That experience helped solidify her passion for working with students to discuss future goals.

After graduation, Emily moved to South Carolina, where she worked for the Department of Health and Human Services as a Medicaid eligibility specialist for children and adults. After working there for several years, she returned to college and pursued a graduate degree. She earned an Educational Specialist degree in Counselor Education with an emphasis in School Counseling from the University of South Carolina in addition to a Career Development Facilitator Certification from Midlands Technical College.

Emily worked as a high school counselor in South Carolina and most recently at Junction City High School. She is excited about becoming an academic advisor and working with students as they transition to college and navigate the journey of self-discovery into adulthood.
