Case Competitions
Our students participate in case competitions hosted both at K-State and at other universities and organizations. Through these experiences, students sharpen their analytical thinking, strengthen teamwork skills, broaden their perspectives, and build lasting professional connections. The competitions listed on this page are some of the opportunities our students engage in on a regular basis.
The goal of the K-State Innovation Challenge is to encourage students to think innovatively about solutions to real-world problems. In this competition, students develop a strategic proposal to improve an existing product, service, or technology in a way that enhances or expands its market presence. Proposals are evaluated based on creativity, feasibility, and market potential.
The goal of the Phillips 66 Business Ethics Case Competition is to challenge students to examine a real-world ethical dilemma. In this competition, students analyze a business situation where the interests of people, profit, and planet are misaligned. Using appropriate ethical and strategic management principles, students develop a viable set of practical recommendations that address multiple stakeholder concerns.
The Tenaska Business Challenge is a multi-university case competition hosted by the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and sponsored by Tenaska, a large privately held energy company. In this competition, students analyze a real-world business problem and develop innovative, interdisciplinary solutions relating to the energy sector.
