Why did you choose K-State/CBA? When I came to visit K-State, everyone I met was really warm, inviting, and helpful. I really love the “Family” atmosphere that is promoted all throughout campus and feeling that I am a part of that “Family.” Also, I believe that K-State has a great College of Business Administration.

Involvement at K-State or in the community: Prior to my position as an Advising Assistant, I was involved with HandsOn K-State as an Academic Mentor where I was placed at a couple of public schools in the Manhattan area and mentored students to succeed in their academics. Other organizations I am currently or previously involved in are, Women’s Lacrosse Club, Multicultural Business Student Association, Alpha Kappa Psi, Multicultural Ambassadors, Study Abroad Advocates, Vietnamese Student Association, and Asian American Student Union.

Why did you apply to be an Advising Assistant? I wanted to apply to be an Advising Assistant because I wanted to help my peers succeed in their academics and enlighten them to all the wonderful resources our school has to offer. I also believe that my past experiences and involvement at K-State will really help me in assisting students who will come into the Student Success Center.

What is your most memorable moment at K-State? I think my most memorable memory of K-State so far is, watching football games at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and being able to sit in the student section and cheering on our team. During the games, I got to learn about all the traditions and cheers of K-State.

Have you studied abroad, if so where did you go and name your favorite experience. I had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in Seoul, South Korea and attended Kyung Hee University. I chose to go to a place that most students wouldn’t typically choose to study abroad and I wanted to immerse myself in a culture completely different from Western culture. Although I am Vietnamese, Korean culture and the Eastern culture overall was quite a shock to me. I think my favorite experience was learning about Korean culture, Korean pop culture, the Eastern part of the world, and living in a country of a homogeneous population. It was quite a shock for me to come back to the States and see everyone looked very different!
