College of Business Administration

Incoming Freshman

Dear New Students,

Welcome to the College of Business at Kansas State University! We are excited to have you join us in the fall! In preparation for your orientation and enrollment day, we would like to provide you with some information that will help you transition to life at K-State.

In the morning of your orientation and enrollment day, you will be assigned an appointment time with your academic advisor. Along with your advising appointment, we will have additional sessions that are specific to the College of Business to provide you with some useful knowledge for your first semester at K-State and in our college. Please plan to spend the entire day with us on campus.

During the 20 minute appointment with your academic advisor, we will discuss what courses are the best fit for you for your fall 2018 schedule. If you have not done so already, please complete the pre-enrollment survey so that we can better prepare for your appointment. We encourage you to discuss course options and preferences with your parents and/or guardians while you are completing the pre-enrollment survey.

At the end of your appointment, your academic advisor will then make an enrollment ticket with recommend first semester courses for you to enroll in. From your appointment, you will proceed directly to a computer lab where our enrollment assistants will walk you through how to enroll in your recommended courses. After you are done enrolling you will be given a copy of your fall class schedule.

The College of Business Administration offers 7 majors and several certificate programs. When you graduate from our college, you will earn your Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration after completing a minimum of 120 credit hours. Our degree is divided into 3 major areas:

  1. BAPP (Business Administration Pre-Professions program) – This is your degree’s general requirements, for example: Math, Economics, English, Public Speaking, and K-State 8 classes (45 credit hours). The BAPP is required of all majors in our college.
  2. Business Core Requirements – These courses help introduce students to each of the majors offered in the College of Business and provide you with a comprehensive understanding of all facets of business (30 credit hours).
  3. Major Requirements – These are the courses that are specific to your major (45 credit hours).

Below are some links that will help as you are planning:

College of Business Curriculum Worksheets – Here you can view our curriculum guide, elective sheets, student curriculum worksheets for each major and the BAPP.

K-State Course Catalog – In the course catalog, you can read descriptions for each class at K-State.

Summer and Fall 2018 Course Schedules – On this page, you can see the courses that will be offered for the summer and fall 2018 semesters.

K-State Math Placement Exams

We also encourage you to consider programs through K-State First! We especially recommend signing up for a CAT Community or first-year seminar. The College of Business is offering a sales-focused CAT Community this year, called: The World of Professional Selling!
