Research Goals

Joseph Buckman’s research focuses on the economics of information security and privacy. His recent research examines consumers’ valuation of private information under multidimensional disclosure decisions. Additional research includes examining the effectiveness of data breach notification laws at deterring firms from experiencing future data breach incidents. His research efforts contribute to academics and industry leaders by presenting novel findings on consumer and firm reactions to evolving information security and privacy factors.

  • The role of consumer reactions to a data breach on firms’ implementation of new information security countermeasures
