Fall 2013 Edward Jones Sales Competition

What’s it all about?

You will take on the role of an Edward Jones financial advisor. We will provide you with background information on a prospective customer and some very basic financial products. You will have eight minutes to “meet” with the prospect and convince him or her to consider Edward Jones for his or her financial needs. Your goal is to set up a second appointment to go over the specific investments to be made. In-depth knowledge of finance is not
required to be successful. We will provide you with the information you need to complete the role play successfully.

Four winners and two alternates will be chosen for the K-State National Sales Team. Each winner will receive a $500 scholarship, and each alternate a $250 scholarship, from Edward Jones. Winners and alternates will also travel to Atlanta, Georgia March 28-31, 2014, all expenses paid, and have the chance to compete in the National Collegiate Sales Competition at Kennesaw State University.

The Edward Jones Sales Competition is open to any Kansas State University undergraduate student on the Manhattan campus, regardless of major or college. You must not graduate before spring 2014, and you must be available to attend the National Collegiate Sales Competition March 28-31, 2014.

Competition Launch Party

Meet D.C. Hackerott from Edward Jones; get preparation hints and a copy of the competition role play. Students who do not attend the launch party will receive the role play via e-mail on October 10th, 2013.

Fall Sales Career Fair and Competition Registration

All competitors must check-in at the registration desk to receive final instructions for the next day’s competition. Edward Jones Competition

Each contestant must be available for 30 minutes the day of the competition. You will be assigned a 15 minute time slot, and you must check in 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time slot. We will work with each contestant to find a time that fits with his or her schedule.

Winners will be announced via e-mail on Tuesday, October 22nd.
